Earth Day is now entering its 46th year as a movement that continues to inspire, challenge ideas, ignite passion, and motivate people to action.

In 1970, the year of the first Earth Day, the movement gave voice to an emerging consciousness, channeling human energy toward environmental issues. Forty-six years later, it continues to lead with groundbreaking ideas and by the power of example.

This Earth Day, let’s plant 7.8 billion trees, says Earth Day Network. Let’s divest from fossil fuels and make cities 100% renewable. Let’s build on the momentum from the Paris Climate Summit. For additional ways you can care for the earth, visit the Earth Day Network website at:

Pat Dillon, RJM, has lead by example, doing her part by planting trees. She has been planting trees since 1998 when a community association was formed to address land erosion along the highway that passes through Gros Morne, Haiti. Runoff from Tet Mon, a nearby mountain, was determined to be a major source of the erosion. Sr. Pat began a reforestation program and established a tree nursery to grow saplings for planting on Tet Mon. Because of those who have planted, watered, and protected the saplings, Tet Mon is now home to a mature forest of over 200,000 trees.
